How CAP collects your information
We collect data based on information we collect through the use of our services and information you give us.
Information We Collect From Your Use of Services. You can visit many of our website pages anonymously, without providing any personal information. We automatically collect and store logs of non-personal electronic data, such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, device, browser type, and online activity data. We use cookies and various technologies that are sent to your device when you visit our website. A cookie is a small file containing a string of characters that is sent to your computer when you visit a website. When you visit the website again, the cookie allows that site to recognize your browser. Cookies may store user preferences and other non-personal information. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. By allowing us to use cookies, your experience on our website may be enhanced.
Information You Give Us. When you interact with CAP, we may ask you to provide certain personal information voluntarily. CAP restricts the collection of personal information to necessary characteristics which help us understand and better serve the interests and needs of our members, customers, and website visitors, and to information used in authorized transactions. If you choose not to provide the information requested, you may be unable to access and use certain services and content on our website or receive information we believe will be of interest to you.
Examples when CAP may collect your personal information include:
Registering on our website.
Submitting forms or inquiries.
Children. CAP does not intentionally or knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If a child has provided CAP with personally identifiable information, a parent or guardian of that child should contact us if they would like this information deleted from CAP’s records. CAP will use all reasonable efforts to delete all of the child’s information from CAP’s records.
How CAP uses your information
Improve Browsing Experience. CAP utilizes some of the information collected to improve your experience on this website, such as automatically logging you into the site upon your return. We regularly review the non-identifying data to determine how we can improve your experience with the site, the services we offer, and troubleshoot any issues with the site.
Provide You Services. Some services require the use of personal information to determine appropriate access. Many of these services require an account and for you to be logged into the site as a way to verify appropriate security access. CAP publishes directories or rosters that may include personal information intended for member networking and operational purposes.
CAP Marketing Purposes. We generally use your personal information for our own business and administrative purposes, such as, without limitation, responding to your questions or comments; identifying products, programs, and events that might interest you; tracking your membership; and coordinating volunteer opportunities. Name, postal address, fax and phone numbers, email address, affiliations, job title, gender, age and other similar information is used by CAP to understand its audiences and to offer member benefits to members and website visitors who we believe are likely to be interested in them.
Rental of Postal Mailing Lists. CAP occasionally provides postal addresses collected from members and website visitors to third parties. Prior to CAP’s agreeing to provide such information, the third party must provide CAP with the exact intended use of the information and a sample of the mailing piece. CAP’s decision to provide postal addresses to a third party is based on the educational/informational nature of the mailing piece, whether it furthers CAP’s or its members’ and customers’ overall interests and whether it is consistent with CAP’s mission. CAP does not rent to third parties telephone numbers, fax numbers or email addresses.
Opting out/in
CAP recognizes that CAP members and non-members may wish to limit CAP’s use of personal information, and that this decision may occur after such information is provided to CAP, via our website or otherwise. To that end, members and non-members may access this website and voluntarily update their account information at any time. Members and non-members may also contact us to update communication preferences.
Opting out of such communications can affect your receiving or learning about benefits of membership, receiving information and offers we believe will be of interest to you, and interacting with CAP.
Changes to this privacy statement
We will occasionally update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will also revise the “last updated” date at the bottom of this Policy. Therefore, you should periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay abreast of our most current policies and practices. For material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by placing a prominent notice on the website.
